Thanks for for posting your question.
Diabetes is a chronic condition which should be followed by a doctor. Before discontinuing your meds you should see if there are free clinics or sliding fee clinics you can seek medical care in.

One should exercise caution when using herbal remedies to manage a disease or condition, and should speak with a medical provider before doing so.

With regard to finding affordable medications; there are many resources available to uninsured people. For instance, Target has a generic medication program, which offers generic medications for $4 per prescription, and many pharmaceutical companies have patient assistance programs, which provide free or discounted medications.

I have insurance and we still found it was cheaper and easier for me to join the Walgreen's prescription savings program. A 90 day supply of Metformin is very affordable under this. I think Glimepiride is also covered under the program. You might check it out and see if it will work in your budget. Also, I now buy my test strips on Amazon and they are 57% off retail typically. Management is cheaper than complications, see what you can do to get back on meds.

The thought of you going without diabetes meds is very frightening to me. There are older diabetes medications that are cheap, such as Metformin and glipizide. Can your doctor help change your meds to these cheaper alternatives. I don't think this site would hurt: http://www.rxassist.org/ It is a very helpful site for those that just can't afford their meds and you probably can get all of your meds, not only the diabetic ones Sally
