"I have spke to my dr. about the avandia I take and he does not think it is a serious risk, should I get a second opinion?"

I take avandia as well as metformin, glimerpride, and lantus.

Dear dspepperl, In my opinion, Avandia is safe as long as you are aware of symptoms that can arise and call for stopping the medication. For instance, if you have weight gain that is caused by fluid collecting in your ankles, etc. that is a sign you should go off Avandia. The few cases of pancreatitis were not predictable and probably weren't easy to pick up warning signs for it. So, my advice is continue with Avandia or try the sister drug Actos. Both drugs should be monitored so as long as you have regular doctor visits, I wouldn't worry about using it.
