Dear jackie17, By corrective eye surgery I am assuming you mean lasik or a form of lasik surgery. I don't think having diabetes eliminates you from being a candidate for lasik surgery. However, the first step you need to take is to visit a reputable lasik practitioner's office, watch the tapes about the procedure, and ask them what their exclusion criteria is. I personally had the surgery done about 8 years ago and am enjoying being free of glasses. Some people have vision defects that are not really fully corrected by the procedure. My doctor told me that contacts are hard to fit and uncomfortable if one has had lasik. That means if your vision is fully corrected, you may need to wear glasses. Only your eye doctor can tell you what you can expect from the procedure, given your specific vision defects. Good luck and I hope it works out for you!
