Hello SambaSiVarao: From the information/medications you indicate, you would be classified as a Ty2. Ty1 have a complete deficiency of pancreas produced insulin and must take injections outside the gastrointestinal tract. Both metformin and amaryl are your hypoglycemic agents taken orally which are exposed to your gastric acids, have a timed released action which make your own insulin more effective. Although your pancreas's production maybe sluggish these medications help.

I do not believe your joint pain is related to the diagnosis of diabetes. If it continued for 7-10 days, symptoms persist, this maybe an indicator for medical evaluation. Try to R.I.C.E. treatment.

  • How has it impacted your blood glucose levels? Stressors will impact the blood glucose levels, monitoring is very important. I would recommend testing frequently, check out your local hospital's for a Certified Diabetes Education Program and Support Group.

    Keep to the ADA'S ABC's:

  • A1c<7%
  • Blood pressure<130/80mmHg
  • Total cholesterol<200, LDL<100,HDL>40, if you smoke, stop
  • activity to 150 minutes per week, as the pain resolves and functioning OK, weight resistance 2 times per week
  • All with clearance from your PCP/Endocrinologist/MD. Be your best. Regards Sue
