Hello MrParker: If you have not done so already, (I apologize for the very slow response to your question), there are medical treatments available. Firstly, I would direct you to an Urologist or a conversation with your endocrinologist. Discussions on sexual functions can be a source of discomfort, however, the literature to document diabetes impact to the systems that services these areas, are many. The truth is diabetes can affect your sexual performance and how you respond to the aging of the reproductive system. Among men, the diagnosis of diabetes brings with a fear of impotence or impaired sexual functions that span a range of severity. The ranges could include, decrease in sexual desire, premature ejaculation, or you fail to ejaculate or reach orgasm. If it is impotence, (you cannot achieve or maintain an erection). Impotence can be caused by either physical or psychological factors. If you have experienced uncontrolled blood glucose levels for a period of time the long term impact can result in blood vessel and nerve-related damage-complications within this system. with keeping the blood glucose levels as close to normal as possible,<140mg/dl at all times. If you smoke, stop, this also affects blood vessels. If you consume alcohol, decrease. Blood pressure control is very important, <130/80 mm/Hg. Treatments include: Medication, (several are available). As to induce erections that last >30 minutes durable medical equipment, hence the conversation with your doctor. All the treatments for impotence involve risks and potential drawbacks. Thanks for asking dLife. Be your best: A1C<7%, LDL<100 mg/dl. Regards Sue
