I am the friend of a type 2 diabetic and I always go to an opthamologist for my eye care. My dr told me that people over a certain age should see an opthamologist and especially someone with diabetes. My friend refuses to believe this is true. What is the correct answer?

Zanderjazz - One of our expert columnists, A. Paul Chous, is an optometrist and he has answered this very question in his column Common Myths & Misconceptions About Diabetic Eye Disease. Check out Myth #4 in particular and see if that helps you.
Good health to you both!
