"I have type II diabetes. Can my blood sugar drop from in the 400's to 299 if I am not making my own insulin while taking glyburide-metformin only? "

The short answer is yes. There are a number of factors to consider such as the degree of insulin resistance you may have, if you need to lose weight,etc. Most patients with Type 2 diabetes make some insulin on their own. You may be able to make insulin, but your body does not utilize the insulin as efficiently as it could due to possible insulin resistance, which is a common component of diabetes for various reasons. The glyburide helps your body put out more insulin, the metformin helps stop the liver from producing too much sugar. Along with diet and exercise as advised by your own health care team, you should start to feel better.
