There is no evidence in the literature that pre natal vitamins increase blood sugar. Most would agree that the benefits of the vitamin are very important and the vitamin should be continued. There are no vitamins on the market that are better for people with diabetes. I would look at the foods you are eating when you take the vitamin to see if you can find another factor that may be contributing. Many people can not drink juice or eat any fruit at breakfast because the insulin resistance is so high in the mornings and they can not keep their post breakfast blood sugar in the desired range. Some doctors suggest only 20 grams of carbohydrate at breakfast, (but not juice or fruit). Later in the day, the hormones tend to decrease and the insulin resistance lowers making it easier to eat carbohydrates. If you can not find the answer in your food, then you will need to look at medication. If you are on insulin, then you most likely need more at breakfast. If you are not on medication then you may need to add some at breakfast. I would look at the blood sugar numbers and bring them into the desired range while continuing to take the vitamins.
