Asked By: garfieldtank

Background Info Hide
My penis has retracted back inside out of view, and all the doctor says to me is lose weight. Another doctor told me that this would happen. Is it normal for my penis to pull back and not come out, it's like I have balls but no penis when you look at me? I am really worried, what should I do?

Hello GarfieldTank: Diabetes Mellitus impacts the whole body. Unfortunately, when the blood glucose levels are uncontrolled the tiny vessels that service the reproductive, eye, kidney, and many other organ areas become affected and function erratically. When excess glucose, (>140 mg/dl) is present, this glucose fuels a pathway in the body that blocks nerve communications in its respective systems. Diabetes is the leading cause for impotence; you did not mention the use of any medications that increase the blood flow in this penile area. The most common causes for impotence and anatomy malfunctions:
  • damage to the nerves in your penis
  • damage to the blood vessels and blood flow
  • poor control over your blood glucose levels
  • Treatment is getting the glucose levels under control!!
  • Evaluation by an Urologist may be of some assistance:
  • medication are available
  • penile implants

    While weight loss is easier said than done, it is an effective method of treatment;

  • have you tried small frequent meals?
  • do you drink enough 'plain 'ol carb free fluids?
  • Weight loss will increase 'your' insulin sensitivity.

A course of action, I would suggest, keep to the ABC's of Diabetes

  • A1C<7 %
  • Blood pressure<130/80
  • Total cholesterol<200
  • HDL>40
  • LDL<100mg/dl.
  • if ability allows/health/MDOK, activity to 150 minutes per week.
