Hello deehause
Hopefully you are seeing an Ophthalmologist with experience with diabetic patients. If a specialist does not have an answer for the condition you present to him/her, then you should be referred to a more appropriate specialist. I do not know where you live, but if you are near a major city, you can investigate if there is a teaching hospital dedicated to vision problems. Many very specialized doctors may have more insight to your problem. There are Glaucoma Opthalmologists, Neuro-Ophthalmologist and entire practices dedicated to the diabetic eye. You are obviously computer savvy, so start a search in your area to see what is nearby. Ask your insurance carrier who they have on their panel. And do not be shy to ask your own specialist who you could see to get a second opinion. Your vision is precious, be proactive!
