Dear toanhdiabetes, Thank you for your question. Many people in my practice cite a similar circumstance like you of having been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes after a heart attack or heart surgery. It is thought that the stress hormones produced at this time are great enough to push the blood sugars over the diabetes threshold. Sometimes they revert to normal levels but other times they continue to run high. So, count yourself in good company of many other people with diabetes. Learn to eat healthy, exercise within your limits, and see a diabetes educator.

I believe there is much more for the medical professionals to learn about diabetes. I developed type 2 diabetes after breast cancer surgery. Had it for over 5 years. Then diagnosed with a reoccurance of breast cancer and had a bilateral mastectomy. Immediately following the surgery my blood sugar levels dropped. My A1C has been under 6.0 for over a year now.
