"Are there any Vietnam veterans out there with diabetes type II?"

native american w/o history of familial diabetes. served at khe sanh, exposed to AGENT ORANGE. diagnosed at the age of 49 after serious attack of allergies. do not exhibit "normal" symptoms of diabetes, but have high blood sugar level. have 100% service-connected disability due to PTSD and diabetes. need to contact others of similiar experience and exposure. i am sixty years old presently.

Dear turlesongs, Thank you for your question. Yes, there are many Vietnam veterans with Type 2 diabetes. If you are treated by a Veterans Medical Center, they will have a diabetes treatment team. Contact them with your questions about agent orange and diabetes. It is a service connected condition for those who served in-country in Vietnam. Some hospitals have support groups. Perhaps you can join one of them and pursue your interest in meeting others with similar problems. I work in a VA medical center and I meet Veterans in our classes every week that are service connected for Type 2 diabetes due to agent orange. There are many of you out there.
