Thanksgiving Dinner does not need to be a stressful event for you or your family, as there is plenty you can eat. . . The problem with Thanksgiving Dinner comes in eating TOO MUCH of the food that is there. Use this as an opportunity to practice portion control and wise choice. Assuming that your family serves a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner, some healthy choices could be a moderate portion of Turkey, a spoonful or two of Dressing, a dollop of Cranberry Sauce, a quarter cup Mashed Potatoes, perhaps a small spoon of Sweet Potato Casserole (as these casseroles can be very sweet), a moderate serving of Green Beans, some fresh Veges or a Salad, lightly tossed with dressing. . . And than a few bites of your favorite dessert, or one bite of two or three desserts! Drink water rather than sweetened drinks, and enjoy this special time with your family. If you eat slowly, savoring the subtle texture and flavor of each bite, holding each morsel in your mouth until your taste buds burst with delight, before swallowing, it is quite likely you will find more enjoyment than you could ever find in plate loads of food. And the satisfaction of eating with restraint and delight, will stick with you much longer than the bloated sick feeling of stuffing yourself over a Thanksgiving table. Best to You and ENJOY the control you will find in yourself!
