You ask an excellent question, and the answer is as undeterminable for a person with diabetes as for any other person alive. I have a dear friend who is celebrating his 80th birthday this year, who has lived with Type 1 diabetes (formally called Juvenile Diabetes) for more than 50 years. And, there are people still alive today, who received the first insulin available, after the discovery of insulin back in 1922. Life with diabetes is not always easy, but many people who live with diabetes are actually healthier than people who do not have diabetes who do not take care for their bodies. Live well dear friend, and prosper!
