Deborah Greenwood
MEd, CNS, BC-ADM, CDE
Deborah graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in nursing and from Boston College with a master's degree in curriculum development and instruction. Deborah started her diabetes career at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Massachusetts working as a Certified Diabetes Educator. She is currently employed as the ADA Program Coordinator, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Diabetes Nurse Educator at Sutter Medical Foundation in Sacramento, CA. Deborah is the president of the local chapter of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the Golden Empire Diabetes Educators.
Deborah is very interested in diabetes prevention and has been the program coordinator for a CDC funded prevention grant through the California Diabetes Program since 2006. As a member of both the California Diabetes Educators Tobacco and Diabetes Taskforce and the Sacramento Tobacco Partnership, Deborah is very committed to increasing awareness about diabetes and smoking. She is also the co-chair of the education committee for the Diabetes Coalition of California.
Deborah volunteers for the American Diabetes Association and is a board member of Lights, Camera, Cure, a nonprofit organization promoting awareness and education regarding diabetes. She is a member of the American Diabetes Association and the American Association of Diabetes Educators. Deborah is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center as an Advance Practice Nurse, Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management.
Deborah was recently elected to the AADE Board of Directors for the 2010-2012 term.
