My Profile
Christina Persaud
MPH, RD, CDE
Since 2005, Christina has worked in the South Bronx and Northern Manhattan facilitating diabetes education to English and Spanish speaking clients. Working in this community, it became apparent that low-literacy was a major barrier to learning. As result, she began to tailor messages and information to address the culture and low-literacy needs of her patient population. She uses motivational interviewing strategies to encourage her patients to make behavior changes. Christina has also consulted with various community and professional organizations on cookbook recipe analysis, food demonstrations, and is editor of a nutrition newsletter. Sharing health information is her passion, and she tries to find fun ways to do it!
