Diabetic Neuropathy Costs Billions Per Year in Lost Work Time

October 5, 2007 (Newswise) - A recent study in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine finds that workers who have diabetes with neuropathic symptoms such as tingling in feet or hands lose the equivalent of 1.4 hours a week or $3.65 billion per year in health-related lost productive time.Dr. Walter "Buzz" Stewart of the Geisinger Center for Health Research in Danville, Pa. can discuss the study's implications for the care of diabetic patients and for the workplace.
