Does anyone know how long it usually a man's body to return to normal once he's started using Androgel? I've been on it almost two weeks, and some of my energy has returned, but definitely NOT all of it. My endo told me to call him back in a month, and that he would consider increasing my dosage at that time. My motivation has increased some, but I have noticed that if I set down after work, I still do not want to do anything. Is there a possibility that Androgel may increase my BG's?
If your eating more carbs then your body can handle your bs will be up, higher bs cause you to be very tired and listless. Try checking your bs when you feel that way.

Hi composed, The changes usually happen gradually. Some men notice the greatest improvement after a few months have passed. Increasing the dose can help speed things up. Hang in there. Janis

I have been on Androgel for two months, and after the first month my endo doubled the dose, yet I'm still not back to normal. If I understand you correctly, it could still take a few more months before my body feels normal again, is this correct?
I travel often, and the Androgel is a bit of a pain to carry through airport security. Is there something easier to handle?
On a good note, I have not noticed any significant difference in my Blood Glucose levels. I had heard a rumor that Androgel could raise BG's, but it does not appear to be the case. I've been able to hold relatively steady, so I'm expecting my next A1C to still be in the 5's. Any input you can offer is appreciated.

Composed, What type of problem have you had at the airport? I have several patients who travel regularly and carry the small packets without any problem. Just keep it in the package that has the prescription attached and keep a doctor's note handy, if necessary.
Now that you've doubled your dose, you should enjoy results a bit more quickly, but it still takes some time. Hang in there. Janis

I managed to get a TSA Agent who was having a bad day, and started yelling at me about the size of containers before looking at anything to see what I was actually carrying. Once she did look at the actual container, along with the fact that I refused to get upset, she calmed down, and apologized.
My real problem is the size of the container, not the container's weight. This is coupled with the fact that if I even suspect I may be getting low on medicine, I will carry two bottles of Androgel with me, making me lose room in my carry on luggage because of the bulk of two bottles. It would be better if I were able to determine if there was enough medication in one bottle for a week (or more) at a glance. I am now going through twice as much Androgel, and I do not seem to be making any real progress. Packets would be better, at least I could take what is really needed, along with a few extra in case I was stranded or sent somewhere else prior to heading home...maybe the bottles are a better idea. Some of my co-workers have been away from home for several weeks, quite unexpectedly without a chance to return for any supplies. It would be nice if there was a once a month (or longer)option.
Thankfully, in a couple of weeks, I will once again make the 6 hour drive (one way) to see my endo, who will take blood samples to determine what needs correction, adjustment, etc. I'm always happy to go there as I usually come back with new ideas, tips, motivation, etc. to help handle my DM. (Dealing with DM is challenging enough, without dealing with Low T, and other problems. )
Thanks for your input.
Composed

Hi composed, Ask your doctor to prescribe the packets. They are very small, about the size of a tea bag. I doubt you'll get stopped if you carry them. Janis
