How do you get the weight loss tickers to show at the bottom of your post?

Anyhoo, I really have to get the moderators to make this a sticky thread cuz so many people ask. At your request, the weight loss ticker:

1. go to www dot tickerfactory dot com and set up your ticker. Save it and remember your pin number so you can get back into it to edit it as you lose.

2. Copy the bbl code at the bottom of your ticker page. You only need the {img} {/img} and what's between it. It will look something like

{img]http://www.tickerfac......etc.{/img]

2. Come back to the dlife forum and click "user control panel" (it's next to the FAQ).

3. Click "profile"

4. Click "edit signature"

5. Paste the tickerfactory code into the box.

6. Click submit or preview then submit if you want to ensure it works.

7. All done.

As you lose weight, you can edit your ticker at tickerfactory and it will update it anywhere you put it on any site.

Cheers.

Hi there, my name is Yuna ^_~ I am hoping to lose 100lbs. I use to weight 370 lbs but lost 110 of it ^^ I really don't know where to start cause I usually have a hard time taking my meds cause I type 2. I wish to start a new leaf over and so far I begun pretty well. Next Monday I hope to post what I need ^^ Also, any tips for helping not drink like a gallon of milk in one week would be helpful too :P Yes I use to drink like 32 oz a day. It was like a major craving. I do have those not really for chocolate or candy but like milk or fruit juices. I really don't understand cause I take vitamins and fiber pills to help. Oh well ^^ maybe you guys can help me. Good luck to everyone on this plan^^

Thanks for listening,

Yuni

Congrats on your weight loss so far. I know you will be quite an asset to our group.

Question: Do you drink skim, regular, or 2% milk?

I would try and wean yourself slowly. If you are drinking regular, go to 2% for a couple of weeks, then switch to skim (if you are already on skim, then horrah for you). I would then try after a while to see if you might enjoy soy or almond milk. Lower in carbs. You could switch one of your glasses out for one of the others. I personally enjoy unsweetened soy...but, it took me a while to wean myself down from 2%.

Limit yourself to drinking your milk ONLY with a meals and only one 8 ounce glass (buy yourself an 8 ounce glass. Having those 16 and 20 ounce glasses makes one naturally want to fill and then drink it all. I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond)Be sure you count the carbs. 1 cup or eight ounces is one carb unit...or about 15g.) By doing that, you will already cut down one glass a day.

You might consider the vitamins and minerals in milk may be something that you are craving, and try and add more of that in your diet. For instance, vitamin D and calcium. You also might consider that FLUIDS are what is needed. Both milk and juice tend to satisfy my thirst, so it might be that you need more fluids. Especially if you are taking extra fiber.

Fruit juices are difficult for many diabetics to handle as they spike our BG. A serving size is only 4 ounces. Again, use an appropriate size glass and count the carbs. It helps you to monitor your intake better. We naturally have a tendency to eat/ everything we see. This is a genetic marker leftover from our hunter/gatherer days. Back then we did not have refrigeration so we had to eat before food spoiled. Also, there was no telling when the next meal might come, so our brains are naturally tuned to eating all we can in case the next meal is far off. (Of course we do not need that anymore, but it is still in our genetic makeup.

As to where to start...well, one thing at a time. Pick one thing for this week. If it is to take your meds every single day...then do it. If you succeed, then tell yourself, I can do it for another week. When you feel comfortable doing that...then, go ahead and add another goal.

Small changes at a time tend to last longer.

And, come here often for support, and let us know how you are doing. We are here for you.

This is going to be a very stressful month for me with the holidays and work, so I need help.
How do you get the weight loss tickers? I am determined to lose and want to show my progress.

Hi All,

My weight is up this week, 202.75. I just can't seem to stay focused. My husband and I celebrated our 29th anniversary on the 1st and this Sunday he will be running in the local marathon, I think it is number 33. He's never missed one, though he is walking more of the course now at 65 than when he initiated the race way back in the day.

Welcome to iswife, duane, dfossat & jeanmc. You will find the people here very loving and supportive.

A no-gain November, sounds good to me. The 1st is our annivrsary, I turn 58 this month and then of course there is
Turkey day. Since there is only two of us this year I think we
will skip the whole turkey thing and keep it simple. Heaven knows
I can eat my weight is stuffing!! LOL.

The sun has finally come out in central Pa. Yesterday was the first time in over a week. The sunshine sure does lift my spirits.
Have a good day.

Gail

Happy Anniversary! Mine is this month as well. This Saturday.

Just a thought...did you go out to eat for your Anniversary? Restaurant food tends to be loaded with sodium, and I tend to gain a pound just from that. I drink a 20 ounce thing of water with 1 tbsp of lemon juice in it, and it usually gets rid of that sodium water weight in 24 hours....

This stuffing recipe came from the Biggest Loser last year. I made it with whole wheat bread crumbs, and egg substitute to make it even more diabetic friendly. I did not have figs, so I omitted them. It was very good, and I had a nice even BG afterwards.

Thanks for the tips on the milk and juice. Luckily we drink skim milk or 1 percent milk at our house ^^ I have been making a lot of changes hopefully for the better. This week so far I managed to get my 30 minutes of exercise in, take my meds and eat the right proportions everyday so far^^ Also, used a meatloaf recipe from this website. Very good stuff.

Good luck to everyone,

Yuni

Hi All, no change in weight this week. :x I have added weights to my weekly workout which was my goal for October. I'm doing those every other day. 1 month late but got it done. I am adding an afternoon walk with my sister. We're still working out the scheduling details. I have removed shellfish and egg yolks from my food to work on that cholesterol as well as the extra exercise.

Welcome to all the new members. I look forward to the inspiration you'll bring to the group. This will be my first holiday season as a diabetic too! I must admit the holidays were weird last year because of the no gluten, soy or dairy. JEANMC, how long have you been gluten-free? Maybe we could share ideas for holiday treats. I tried working out a recipe for pumpkin bread using almond flour and flaxmeal but it still needs work. The taste is good but the texture is still a problem. I tried using egg whites instead of whole eggs and I think it lost its structure.

Val, when you were losing all your weight did you have a period of time when you slowed down? I'm getting pretty frustrated. I was averaging about 1.5 lbs a week the last six months but now am at about .75 a week. Thanks for the reminder to measure because I think that will help me when the scale is creeping along.

Congratulations to all those who lost this week. I'm pretty jealous!!

Hi Everyone,

It has been a long time since I posted, but I need to be more motivated, so I'm back in. I am at my goal weight, so no ticker for me, and part of my frustrations come from being 1.5, but we're all diabetic, right?

I was diagnosed about a year ago and have been struggling to find a plan that works for me since. I have lost about 15 pounds and am now happy at about 115 and 5'3''. I aim to work out 5 times a week, and probably am averaging above 4, so that is going well. I swear by pilates and yoga, btw.

I am struggling for two reasons.

1) I have started to slip and eat things I shouldn't. It is sometimes hard to know what these things are, but for example, the other night I made mac & cheese, which I can normally have in small doses (whole wheat pasta, etc.) My plan for a veggie side fell through (my boyfriend was in charge of making cole slaw and he made it too spicy for me), and as a result I ate way too much mac & cheese.

2) I think the slips are a reaction to my frustration with my own body. Eating the right things is even going astray. Today I woke up late and had to run to the gym so all I had for "breakfast" was a snack bar (this almost never happens, I ALWAYS eat breakfast). It was a Kashi bar, with 25 grams of carbs total, only 6 grams of sugar. No HFCS, although it did have "evaporated cane juice crystals." Then I went to pilates and yoga and tested afterword....305!

Now, I know that exercise raises your bg, but 305 is ridiculous! After 25 grams of carbs?!

Honestly, I can only eat eggs so many days a week. I have tried yogurt, etc. and sometimes my body just will not cooperate. It is frustrating to do everything right and still get crappy numbers. Hence the lack of motivation to behave myself.

I called my endo and am seeing him this afternoon. I could use some support, so I'm back on posting every Monday.

See you all soon, and thanks for being here for me. V Penning is the best.

Hi meagher6 I too have problems with keeping on my plan. Also for another alternative to breakfast is what I eat is half a bagel with peanut butter, half a glass of milk and half a glass of juice. This pretty much fills me up until lunch. Hope this helps ^^

Take care

Yuni
