OK- so I've een diagnosed with T1 for 22 years. I avoid spending too much time thinking about it, because then it becomes overwhelming, and I can't function......been depressed for too many years to count...
JayBee, It is overwhelming, that's for sure! I understand the depression too. You are not alone!! The best thing you can do at this point, in my humble opinion, is take one baby step at a time one day at a time. What I mean is, start out by testing when you get up, make that a habit, if it's the only time you test that day, it's alright, take pride in the small things. Then when you can, take another small step. If we look at the big picture it freezes us and we do nothing. Come to this site often, even if you just read what is posted, it will help. Take care, we are here, MJ

Sorry you are depressed. I suggest you see a doc who can prescribe a good med. Look into Cymbalta. Take care.

I agree with Dave. See your doc. There is no shame in being depressed. It is a biological issue often involving brain chemistry, it doesn't mean you aren't "tough enough". I was on anti depressants for several years. I was on welbutrin and it worked well for me. Eventually I didn't need it any more and was weaned off it. The better handle you get on the depression, the easier the diabetes will be to deal with.
Best of luck.
Cora

i can relate as well to the depression. life sucks, especially if you're a depressed diabetic. don't turn to drugs or "comfort foods", like i have. my a1c is above 12 right now, they tell me that the way i treat myself now will effect my health in the future, even if i get it under control. zoloft worked well for me, if you have family members who are on anti depressants ask them which ones worked for them, as these may work better for you than others.

Hey...I'm with you...but I think about it all the time...and keep trying to beat it. I'll be at 35 years Christmas. I think I'm going to try the pump...what do you use?
