Whenever the desire for recognition assumes control of our psychic life, it results in a constant striving for power and superiority. This expresses itself in thoughts or activities that seek to display and glorify the self. We soon lose contact with reality, fail to contribute to society or to cooperate with others, and sadly lack a sense of appreciation and understanding of the laws that govern human life. Being primarily concerned with our own reputation and the impression we make on others, our thinking becomes inverted. At this point, our most obvious character trait is vanity.

Vanity is defined as an inordinate desire for the notice, approval, or praise of others. Although vanity is a phase of pride, we may be proud without being vain. But a vain person, ever seeking for approval or commendation, is excessively proud when the desire for personal worth is gratified.

Rancho Cucamonga, that's probably about 5 hrs to the south of Morro Bay. I don't get to that area very often, I'm afraid. Usually I head to L.A. when there's a Peter Murphy concert scheduled there and when the money is plentiful enough for a trip there. Hopefully I'll be able to save enough with this job to make the trip next time he tours the states.

Well, nothing new to say, really.

Hard to even know what to say about what is happening at Ft Hood. Now they are saying 12 dead and 31 wounded. Prayers for the wounded and for the families of those killed. What a tragedy!
