I have a friend with Type II Diabetes. He is an electrician. He does not feel he can take his meter with him and test at lunch time due to having to leave the meter in his work truck where it gets exposed to heat and cold. Anyone have suggestions of what has worked for them in this or a similar situation? He does not take a lunch cooler or wear anything on him that he could put the meter in.

Does he take his lunch with him? If he puts it in the meter case and put the case in a ziplock bag to protect from water damage if there's ice in the cooler then he can have it out of the sun. I always had problems when I was working at summer camp I'd wrap it in either a towel and then put it in my backpack, or in something to protect it from water and then in a fanny pack.

I found the best way for me to do it is a Medport. You can carry medicine & meter & all in it. The one I have is insulated & comes with ice-packs. Not sure where I got it but had it forever? Probably almost any RX will have something similar. It is called a Medport. Good luck to you, coachMIKE
