Weighing your food

tip 102Weighing your food can become tiresome after awhile. Though it's a necessary part of managing diabetes, sometimes you just have to – or want to – wing it. You can keep control by using your hands as a gauge in measuring your food:
 
•  One thumb = 1 tablespoon, or 1 ounce of cheese

•  One palm = 3 ounces of meat

•  One fist = 8 ounces of liquid, or 1 cup of solid food
