You may have noticed that I haven't been writing a whole lot about diabetes lately. There are two reasons for that: First, sometimes life with diabetes is just the same old same old. Sometimes there's just nothing all that spectacular to write about. Sometimes it's just lather, rinse, repeat. Second, life is about more than diabetes *I* am about more than diabetes. And we've been encouraged to write about other aspects of our lives, which of course all interact with diabetes. So that's why you've been getting a lot of posts from me about photography. My second love.
Since my first love is writing I am making an effort to write more, even if it has little to do with diabetes. Yet, when you think about it, it sort of all has to do with diabetes.
For example, when I go out for a photo shoot I need to make sure that I
won't have any issues with my blood sugar. When I was taking engagement
pictures of my brother and his fiancee I went low. Fortunately I was
with family and they didn't mind the brief pause.
Another example of how intertwined everything is: I like need to snack while I write. Generally it's something small and popable and chocolate. Like M&Ms or the Crunch bar I'm eating right now. Yes, you heard me, I'm eating a Crunch bar. Sue me!
Yet another example: shopping. Walking around JC Penney's on Saturday with No. 2 I dipped to 48 mg/dL. Today I went to return a couple pair of shorts for No. 1 and made sure I had tested several times throughout the morning and within 30 minutes of leaving. The combination of 110 degree heat and a bunch of walking would likely cause a low. So I munched on a few Sweetarts before I got into the heavy walking part. Yet another example of how everything in our lives relates to diabetes and vice versa.
So while I won't turn this into some generic, non-diabetes-related blog, I do plan to continue writing about things that may not be specifically diabetes. It's good for me. It's good for you. Enjoy!

Great post. I was just talking with a friend about this very subject yesterday.
Hi; Yes you may be talking about diabetes a lot lately. But when something is on our minds, it will come up more than once, until it's replaced. I for one needed what you wrote. Stay with the writing, it will help you more than you think.
When you have diabetes, everything is connected to it, what you eat, what you do, but at some point you stop noticing and things sort of just happen. You automatically test yourself, you grab food that is right for you, like pita bread from Joseph's Bakery that is certified diabetic friendly, things like that. It becomes a part of your life like sleeping or showering.
