In this post I will rant and rave in a way I don’t think I ever have about something that when I look back at this post in about 20 minutes may see incredibly trivial. Or not.

Seriously, what is the logic behind checking my blood sugar at the endocrinologists office? Not *me* checking my sugar, but the nurse checking it during the course of blood pressure, weight, pulse, etc.

I mean really, for them it’s a totally random time to check someone’s sugar. They never ask when I ate last or when I last bolused. What is the reason for this?

It makes me so annoyed and crabby! I’m crabby enough as it is to be in the darn office, which has likely affected my sugar level, and then to check it and announce that I’m 245 mg/dL just makes things worse! Especially when I know that if we had just waited until I was actually two hours post prandial that I wouldn’t have been that flipping high! And then to not even ask questions or take notes. Gah! And then for the doc to not say anything about it!

So really, why do they do this? Do they think they’re keeping us accountable to something? Really? Because downloading my pump and/or looking at (a patient who keeps) logs isn’t enough?

There are few things about the endo’s office that unnerve me, but this is really sticking in my side lately. (OK so asking “So how have your sugars been?” is another incredibly annoying thing to me at the endo’s office.) It just doesn’t make any sense to do this.
