Is it just me...or has anyone else noticed the lack of true sportsmanship in today's sporting events and competitions? That’s kind of what I was thinking today after reflecting on last night’s superbowl. It seems like all I see anymore, when I catch a rare game on TV, are egotists trying to out do one another. Anymore, all I see are fights and bad things taking place on screen. Our kids are watching. We’re watching. And no one truly seems to take offense anymore to the programming that’s on. ( I guess my ego does :)

We sit in front of the television like brainwashed monkeys in a lab, flipping through channels trying to somehow “find ourselves” something “good.” What is on TV today that is truly good? Not the dramatic drama’s that feed our false self-images, nor the game shows where we think people’s lives are perfect because they win a million dollars. And that story on the news where they tell you about the kid that got murdered, and how their family members are suffering… that’s not good either. That “happiness” that you feel when watching the TV is only temporary. We try to have all these things in our lives we think will make us happy forever, our fancy cars, our luxurious mansions, our shiny boots and flashy expensive clothes…for what though?

I’m not saying that a person can’t have these things and still be happy; I’m just saying it’s getting more and more rare to find somehow whose not lost in their possessions. People have lost track of their purposes.

My most viewed blog is an entry about a TV show. We’re on these computers too damn much. We’re glued to the freaking TV too darn much. Get outside. Take a walk. Breathe in some clean air (if that’s possible in your neighborhood!!) Drink some water, not a soda. Eat a piece of fruit and not an entire pizza. Get off your butt, get some true activity in your life and hit the dang mute button or throw your TV to the freakin’ curb. It’s crap, and meanwhile beauty and life is unfolding before your eyes and it’s all around.

I think I got off the subject of the superbowl…slightly…

Take care; be good to yourself and those around you. Be at peace, and see all the peace that’s around you … most likely,… you won’t find peace by watching the “news,” the “game,” or some “program” on television.
