Just about a month until our Walk to Cure Diabetes. I’m hoping for a good homestretch. Fundraising is hard.

I actually did get a response from the golf course regarding my request for a "Longest Marshmallow Drive for Diabetes" competition. Just getting a response is half the battle. They said they were intrigued with the idea and asked me to submit a proposal with details of the event. They wanted to know how much space I needed and how far a golfer can hit a marshmallow? Good question. I bought a bag of marshmallows to test it out, but never did because the marshmallows were all conjoined in one big sticky lump. I’m not much of a golfer anyway. I hope I get this fundraising event. Crossing fingers.

Here in the suburbs of Philadelphia, people are rabid fans of the local sports teams. I thought it would be a great idea if I got myself one of those dunk tanks and filled it with ranch dressing or pudding or scallops or something and showed up at a fall harvest day festival decked out New York Giants, New York Yankees and New Jersey Devils garb. "Dunk a New York Sports Fan in Scallops for Diabetes." The Philly fans would be frothing at the mouth to get a piece of me. The line would be endless. The donations bountiful.

Susanne makes a good point though. If someone was kind enough to donate a dunk tank to me, they might not want it returned to them smelling like salad dressing or molluscs. Maybe next year.

I know the feeling,I am on a team here in Anchorage, Alaska. We still need to raise money, our walk is indoors. I am so excited to see other Diabetics and join them to fight for a good cause.

Mousie, proud JDRF volunteer

I've not had the time to do the fundraising I want to, and our walk is this Sunday.

Regarding marshmallows, please contact "Siege the Day" -- last showing at the New York Renaissance Festival -- for a hand-operated mini-marshmallow-shooting catapult. The one I purchased on Sunday is currently adjusted for a range of about 5 yards. It's definitely a fun toy to have :)

Mousie: Way to go, Nashville! Fantastic!

tmana: you had me at marshmallow catapult. What else could one possible need.
