So the other day when I wrote about digging up Dex for another round of constant blood-sugar watching, I really thought it would be as easy as calling the medical supply company and giving them my credit card number.
But oh no. It couldn't be that simple.
"Problem" No. 1: The medical supply company told me the sensors were on back order, but that they should ship within a week. I really didn't have a problem with that since I wasn't desperate for the sensors and had planned to use Dex on a more casual basis.
"Problem" No. 2: The medical supply company called several days after I placed my order. I panicked thinking that my credit card had been declined or something, but turns out I had forgotten to give them my new endo's information. (I first ordered Dex when I was with Dr. S -- the doctor I went to once and hated -- and when the medical supply company tried to put the order through Dr. S's office said I needed to make an appointment. I really don't see why there are so many rules around these things. I mean, really, it's like needing to see your endo before reordering insulin. It's not like we're abusing it. /rant)
"Problem" No. 3: I looked at my calendar today and realized that if the sensors had shipped when they were estimated to have been shipped that I should have received them by now. I took a deep breath while I remembered some of the other delays I've encountered while dealing with this company.
Instead of trying to reach the person I usually deal with at the medical supply company I just called customer service since it was a pretty simple question: Has my order shipped yet? The rep read over some notes and found that my doctor's office filled out some paperwork incorrectly and they were waiting for a phone call from the doctor's office or for the correct paperwork to be refaxed. It might help, she told me, if I called the doctor's office.
I took another deep breath, thanked the rep and hung up. I decided not to call my endo's office. I will give it another day or two and call the medical supply company again to see where we are. If at that point they still haven't heard from my endo's office I'll place a call.
Shouldn't this be easier?
