It's hard to believe that we are already a week into the New Year. I feel like I haven't accomplished anything for being one week closer to 2010. I finally made my resolutions last night, but haven't taken any steps to obtaining them. Despite my laziness, here they are:

1) Exercise more: I'm starting out with walking/jogging two days a week, specifically Mondays and Wednesdays since things are slower paced then. I want to build up to three, four, and five times a week, but I don't want to overload myself.

2) Eat healthier: I'm trying to stay closer to the yeast-free diet that I was on over the summer. Despite going without most things, the diet helped me lose a few pounds and made me feel a bit better. I don't want to go completely yeast-free again as I know that I can't keep that up for very long, but I do want to limit my intake of excess carbs (like pancakes, biscuits, extra rolls at restaurants, soda, cookies, etc). When I grocery shop, I refuse to even buy those things. Instead, I'm going to find healthy alternatives (especially ones that treat lows).

3) Read more: I have so many books sitting around that I haven't started or I've gotten half way through. I refuse to buy any more books until I've finished the ones that I have. Most are about managing illness, positive thinking, or life-changing habits, which would really help me NOW and not LATER.

4) Log my blood sugars: I need to get back into the habit of writing them down again (got out of it in the last 2 months), plus documenting other things that affect them like stress, activity, foods, medications. On top of this, I want to use the online program from my pump more often so that I can see trends.

5) Organize my life: This is the huge one for 2009. I want to get things in order with my life. I want a better system for my medications so that I stay on top of them. I want to organize my pump supplies. I want to stay on top of the bills/statements that come in from my pump, insurance company, and so on. My plan is to create a stable schedule for myself and stick to it. This will help my eating, exercising, and insulin habits.

6) Recycle and reuse: I don't keep track of syringes or recycle anything diabetes related. So I really want to start this.

7) Budget for my health: I want to keep track of the money that goes in and out from my medical needs. I want to make sure that I'm getting all the supplies that I need on time.

8) Blog more: I'm aiming for at least 15 blogs a month, plus four blogs on Diabetic Echoes. I have no idea how I'm going to find that many topics, but I plan to stress my brain until I come up with something.

9) Photograph my life more: I started to participate in Diabetes 365 last year, but fell behind because I couldn't seem to find anything to document. My life seemed so boring. But this year, I want to find a moment in every day that is worth remembering.

There's my nine for 09. Part of my monthly blogs will be to update how each resolution is going. I probably won't start things until I head back to my apartment as I still want the next two weeks to "veg out." What are your resolutions?

I am not going to set any resolutions, because I'm just setting myself up for failure. I have NEVER stuck to a resolution. I do however just want to set a higher standard for my "D" care. This last year I really struggled even wanting to take care of myself. That why I ended up with an A1c of 13.3. I do want to do better, and improve that though. I'm sick of feeling sick. So, I guess I could set that as a resolution. I too need to exerise more, and eat healthier. It's hard though, I have a husband and 4 kids, so they all eat normal foods. I was curious about something you mentioned. Called Diabetes 365. What is that, and where can I find more info. Steph
