When I got home from work last night I found a large package sitting on my desk.
"Who's this from?" My son was the only one home and as usual he gave the answer most 15 year olds would give.
"I dunno."
I looked at the label and saw it came from Minimed, the makers of my insulin pump.
As of late I have been eyeing the very cool Lakers skin for my pump since the camouflage one came off but I never ordered it. Hmm. Maybe it's my next box of CGM sensors since I am almost done with those? Hmm. Maybe I should just open it and find out. Duh!
In the packager was one box of infusion sets in a very cool looking new box. I remember that earlier in the day I had read all over Twitter that Minimed recalled several infusion set. All those marked as "Lot 8."
I had my son look through my diabetes cupboard and see if any of my sets were from Lot 8.
It turns out that all of my sets are from lot 8.
Great!
So not I get to return them all to Minimed while I use these 10 that they sent.
I know some people have had bad experiences with Minimed and I can honestly say that I have had a few of my own. But a company that is so proactive regarding a situation such as this should not go unnoticed. The fact that as soon as the news hit the streets, I had a replacement regardless if I had the recalled product or not, is pretty amazing.
Hopefully this kind of service will continue since it's the kind we deserve.
FYI - Check out the official site for details on the recall.
