On Saturday November 3rd I will be participating in the American Diabetes Association's "Step Out to Fight Diabetes" walk. I posted about this a few weeks ago but now I am looking for some help.
I had an idea the other day to have one sentence statements on each of the t-shirts we wear as we walk. Right now, I have about 8 people that are planning on walking for "Team Beat the Bete." I would love to get some ideas from you about what we should have on our t-shirts.
My inspiration came from comments on my "An End to Stereotypes" post. It made me think, "how can I help get the word out" and this seemed like a good way to do it.
Here are some ideas.
"I can eat what I want."
"Taking insulin does not mean you failed."
Those are just some things that popped into my brain this morning which is why I am asking all of you for help. However many people we have on the team is the number of statements we will use (unless there are a few short sweet ones then we will double up). I will post pictures and update you all after the walk.
I am open to any misconceptions (diabetes is not a big deal), advice (Test, don't guess!), rants (diabetes sucks), humor (diabetics are naturally sweet), whatever! And be sure to include statements about type 1, type 2, or gestational diabetes. All ideas will be considered and appreciated.
I am so excited about this. It is gonna be so cool. Thanks in advance for your help!

Diabetic Recipes

There is no such thing as "good" diabetes.
When people find out Riley has D, they often ask "Is it the bad kind?" Or, "It must be bad if he's on a pump."
I like the one from Zazzy's blog - "Be nice to diabetics, we deal with enough pricks already"
