I'm officially off Symlin. I was on the fence for a while, but I'm definitely done with it. I have a brand-new Symlin pen with pen needle attached sitting in my purse waiting to be used. It's essentially wasted now. I'm OK with that. I don't like to waste money or stuff (I'm such a pack rat), so this is really a big step for me. You'll remember when I did pretty much the same thing toward the end of my Byetta run.

 

The two main reasons are this: I'm tired of the tummy trouble and I eat even when I'm not hungry. The last roughly month of not taking Symlin have been mostly tummy-trouble-free. And it's been a nice change of pace, frankly, to not be constantly wiped out from having diarrhea. Going shopping -- going anywhere, really -- was also taking a chance on having to find a bathroom in an emergency. With three kids in tow. And did I mention it's not fun to rush to a PUBLIC bathroom?

 

Kudos to Symlin for getting rid of the insatiable hole in my stomach. However, lately I haven't had that problem (knock on wood). That problem that not even drinking a gallon of water would fix. Not only that, but I eat even when I'm not hungry. Symlin's queasiness side effect was also not much of a snack deterrant. So I found that the main reason I was taking Symlin wasn't really being addressed (I say as my tummy growls).

 

It was really a crutch anyway and I think I'm glad to be done with it. Someone commented on one of my posts recently that "you gotta wanna" and that is so true. I know I need to lose weight and exercise every day, but I don't have the energy to commit to it right now. And please don't send me emails or comment on how I'm killing myself. When I find the right time and the right rhythm (which is hard when you have to get up at 5 a.m. to get to work and it's 110 outside All. The. Time.) I'll make it happen.

 

I know because I've done it before.
