I am always cold. At night I sleep mummified in a blanket burrito. Sure mornings are difficult since I do not want to face the frigid temperatures that accompany a typical Southern California morning but I do with a chipper grin after just having a wonderful night of deep sleep.

But last night was different. I woke up sweating. I was on fire! Someone must have turned the heater up or something. My wife woke up and asked, "Are you alright?"

"It's just freaking hot! What is the heater set at?"

"Where is your machine?"

Machine? I mean, it took me a second to even understand what the heck she was talking about. Did I actually forget that I have diabetes and have had it for 18 years? What is wrong with me?

It was a weird sensation because I do not remember ever reacting that way to a low. I rolled over to the giant bottle of orange flavored glucose tabs on my nightstand and chomped on 4 of them. My wife asked again about getting my machine but I was already rewrapping myself in my blankie tortilla. I knew when I started shivering that I was on the mend and fell back into dream land.

Have any of yours low been like this? Like a moment without diabetes on your mind? To be honest, I kind of like that idea as ironic as it is.
