Blog post title courtesy of my dad, circa 1987.

It has been a busy couple of months for me.  So much happening.

In diabetes news:

I did get my new Deltec Cozmo, without having to pay an arm and a leg in early December.

I actually got the cool software that uploads and downloads information from pump to computer to work on my PC, therefore saving myself HOURS of set-up time.

I survived the holidays with an average bloodsugar on my meter of 133 mg/dl and no severe lows or astronomical highs.  I ate too much and didn't go to the gym, but still only gained 1/2 pound.  How did that happen?

I had a yucky, yucky pump site issue that landed with a sore, red gross hole in my left thigh that is still healing one week later.

All in all, the diabetes has been background noise, annoying at times but mostly imperceptible.

Other updates:

On January 19th, I start a new job.  On December 26th, I accepted the position of Development Director with Rhode Island Public Radio.  Though I will miss my "work family" at my current job, this is an exciting step for me and one that I am incredibly excited about.

I'll be helping to build Rhode Island Public Radio from the ground up.  WRNI just went independent from WBUR in Boston in September - so they're still getting their feet under them in the Ocean State.  I'll be working toward broadening that foundation with community support.   And I'm thrilled!

An added bonus, the health benefits at my new job are very good and there is a flexible spending option that will allow me to pay for out-of-pocket expenses pre-tax.

Bob was laid off in December.   He has had several good interactions with potential employers, and hopes to  have something new in the next few weeks. We are fortunate that we know how to be frugal, that's been a great help to us as we've gotten by on 1.5 salaries instead of 2.

On New Year's Eve afternoon, I got into a fender bender.  Well, it was slightly more than a fender bender, it was a crash.   I am in a rental as my car gets fixed.

Resolutions:

I am making no resolutions this year.

OK - maybe I'm making one.  Over the next week or two, I resolve to write a blog post about each topic bold and underlined in this post.

Hold me to it!
