I have finally decided to get my act together. I've had enough of yo-yoing bloodsugar. I've been lazy about my gym routine for long enough.

This week was a good start at getting back on track.

I tested my basal rates over the weekend and on Monday and found that I needed to make a minor adjustment or two. The new basal rates kicked ass on Tuesday and Wednesday and have been treating me well today. Step one - check.

I've been back to the gym four time since I posted last week - when I hadn't been at all. I've started a new routine involving rounds of cardio on the summit trainer, elip trainer, and stationary bike. I went to a yoga class this week. I spent a bit of time on Monday in the weight room. Slowly but surely step two - check.

I've been eating well. I went grocery shopping on Sunday. I won't discuss the 28 mg/dl I had while shopping... I'll just say that grocery shopping at the start of the week is vital to my eating behaviors during the work week. If I don't shop, I tend to go out and get the WRONG things at local restaurants. Even the salads made by restaurants are not so hot in terms of calories and fat. Not to mention price. So I started the week with plenty of fresh produce and whole foods from the market. And I've been sticking to a decent number of calories and more measured carb portions all week. Step three - check.

In general, I'm feeling a whole lot better. I'm not as tired, I'm not dragging along through my days. My blood sugars have been more consistent - and better - than I have seen in awhile. And I feel like I've accomplished something.

Steps to tackle in the coming days/weeks: Drinking more water, taking a break during the work day and getting away from the computer screen, writing (for this blog and for my own pleasure) more regularly.

Baby Steps

That's what we have to take, right?
