I don't even know where to start this post. Should I tell you first how I started to fell sick after dinner last night and how my blood sugar was on the low side until this morning or how I nearly fainted at the pediatrician's office this afternoon?

I think I'll start from the beginning. Because, really, the best part is the near-fainting and why would I want to tell you all about that first without telling you what lead up to it?

So, like I said, I started feeling sickly last night right after dinner. I had grand plans to wrap Christmas presents and finish up a bunch of Christmas crafts, but all I could muster the strength to do was sit on the couch and watch the Arizona Cardinals lose miserably. My sugar was surprisingly lowish post-prandial but I assumed I had overbolused. Even after eating some Ben and Jerry's my sugar stayed on the low side for quite some time. Finally, after deciding to hit the sack early since I felt so lousy, the line on Dex started going up, so I bolused for about half of the ice cream. And then there were the two very long periods in the bathroom, after which I took a dose of Imodium.

Dex alarmed me awake around 3 a.m. at under 80; I remember thinking that whatever the number (can't remember what it was) wasn't that bad and I would tough it out until morning. When I woke at 5:30 for my walk I tested around 100. Though I still felt lousy I was determined to walk and scarfed down a granola bar before leaving.

Our outdoor thermometer said it was 43 but getting outside it felt much colder. Though my calves burned I continued to push myself. I was proud of getting through my entire route without slowing down. After I got home, I bolused for the granola bar but watched the line on Dex continue to shoot up. I crashed on the bed and told The Mr. I just wanted to go back to sleep for another two hours.

The lousy feeling followed me around while I got ready for work. I could barely eat my half peanut butter sandwich (no jelly) and Diet Coke breakfast. The fatigue was almost more than I could handle and I sat in the parking lot resting for several minutes before I went into work.

I haven't managed to figure out the right bolus for that breakfast and I found myself much lower than I wanted to be post prandial. Throughout the morning I continued to feel extremely tired, unfocused and nauseaus and my tummy was still considerably upset. A co-worker had left one of those small boxes of cereal on my desk (Corn Flakes with a touch of honey) and considering how nauseaus I still felt (while also feeling slightly hungry) I decided to eat the cereal for lunch.

As I munched slowly on the cereal the line on Dex didn't budge, but my stomach started to feel much better. Better enough that I made myself a bag of popcorn.
