Over the weekend, I had a low blood sugar in the middle of the night that left me feeling like I had been beaten soundly and left in a ditch. (Covered in petrol, a la Eddie Izzard.)

It was a strange experience, though, because the "low hangover" feeling was neatly accompanied by a feeling of guilt. This low wasn't one that came out of no where and smacked up upside the head. This low was the result of a miscalculation while I was at dinner. (READ MORE)

A recent post I put up, about trying to manage Olivia's blood sugars, generated a comment from someone about regulating carbs. I was initially kind of pissed off by the answer. I realized, after thinking about it for a couple of days, that I was more pissed off with myself than with the commenter. (READ MORE)

Though tempted to boost my word count even further, I'll stop at Wednesday, knowing that you get the point.

Respond to wife with the following assortment of interchangeable exclamatory interjections:

"Damn!"

"Crap!"

"Great!" (not the good kind, the sarcastic kind)

"Super!" (again, sarcastic)

"Thank God!"

It has gotten just a bit monotonous.

And not just on my end.

Today, Monday, I start a new job. To supplement my personal training business and this blogging job, I have decided to do some work landscaping. I love to work outside. I have done some work with this company before. When I was 18, my good friend and I worked there for a summer job. It was very hard and physically taxing work. I spent a lot of 8 hour shifts shoveling dirt, rocks, and mulch. A lot of time was spent bending over or on my knees planting, sweating, and working with my hands and body. (READ MORE)

Scanning the aisles of the grocery store, I was looking for something brownie-ish. As usual, I was assaulted by the donut counter as soon as I walked in the door (location, location, location!). But with no chocolate cake donuts with chocolate icing, it was easy for me to walk past. I quickly perused the bakery area for something tantalizing, and was actually pleased that nothing struck my fancy.

I have learned lately that when I have a craving I have to be very specific with myself or I wind up eating more that I bargained for because I'm not satisfied. So I can't go after something that's "just chocolate." I have to consider texture, temperature and portion size. (READ MORE)

Things have been good these past couple of days. I have been working, working out, and overall my blood sugars seem to be pretty stable. Life is not too bad at the moment. Just as many of you, I have my good and bad days. I wanted to take the chance today to write about the good. Work is, well, work. At times it plays havoc with my sugar and it can be very stressful, but overall I am satisfied. At the end of the day or the end of the work week life gets instantly better. As soon as I walk out the door and I'm on my way to doing something non-work related, the problems I had disappear. Which leads me to my ultimate stress relief time - my workouts.
