There's nothing better on this snowy Friday afternoon than taking some time to catch up with the Blogabetes bloggers (that is, short of sledding down the hill behind my house on one of those round sleds, but I've digressed). Welcome to another edition of the Weekly Round-up!

Because I've gotten so off track in the last month or two, I've decided to take measures towards better control. I'm sick of watching my numbers climb higher than Everest and struggle to make the plunge back down. My 30 day average is 156, but my 15 day average is 176. So obviously I've lost my control.

 

This month has been hard physically. I've put my work out plan to good use, hitting the gym at least two times a week and walking the neighborhood at least two times as well. I also started the diet. Then summer school started.

I'll admit: I'm not the most regular contributor to the Diabetes Social Media (#dsma) Wednesday-night Twitter chats, and I don't always get the time to tune into the Thursday-night BlogTalkRadio program (or listen to the archive), but when Cherise announced the first DSMA Blog Carnival, I figured I really should chime in. The problem is the topic: "The Most Awesome Thing I've Done Despite Diabetes". I haven't done awesome things despite diabetes, but rather because of it.

Like the old ad for Skittles (chewy fruit-flavored candies), diabetes bloggers come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and flavors. [OK, all Skittles are square, but that's not the point.] Right here on Blogabetes, we range from parents of children with Type 1 diabetes (Carey, Julia), people who have lived most of their lives with type 1 diabetes (Nicole, Lindsey), people who were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as adults (Michelle), and people with type 2 diabetes (myself, Mike).
