After church I typically end up sitting down with a few of the members I get to see once and week and catch up.

This Sunday I was sitting with Paul. Paul is an older gentleman who is witty, funny, and sharp as a tack. I believe he is in his late 60's and read all the bible verses that day in church. He used to be a radio announcer so he has an awesome voice.

We asked each other how we were doing and I felt compelled to share my weekend of ridiculously high blood glucose readings.

"I have been sky high all weekend and cannot get my blood sugar down," I told him, not sure if he could sympathize.

Last Thursday was opening night for Godspell.

Our church has never done a musical before so being a part of it was special. I auditioned back in February and was hoping to get the John the Baptist role. In fact, I had been practicing that characters parts months before auditions.

My pastor (and director) felt that I should have another part. The lead. Jesus.

I was not excited at first. In fact, I was quite nervous and thought that I should be the LAST person to play Jesus. I am definitely not worthy but my pastor saw something I didn’t. (READ MORE)

Last night at church before band practice I yanked my infusion set out. How? I am not sure. Here’s what happened.

On Sunday our projector at church overheated. The only way to reset it after an overheat is to unplug the unit. The problem is that unit is mounted to the ceiling which is extremely high! We have a giant ladder that seems to weight a ton that we can use to get up there but it takes 4 men to move this thing down into church and into position.

Somewhere in the set up of the ladder or break down I must have pulled it out but honestly I never remember anything tugging it.

About an hour and a half later during band practice I started feeling warm. I am never warm. Then my head felt like it was going to explode. I stopped in the middle of a song, one that I could not figure out how to play even though we have played this song a bunch of time, and I tested my blood sugar. (READ MORE)

Today was my Aunt Lisa's funeral.

It was a beautiful service that honored her and brought up lots of good memories. She will be missed but never forgotten.

One of the pluses that comes out of tragedy is the time you get to spend with your family. Sure, a funeral is never the event where you want to have a reunion. Weddings and birthday parties are much better but with my family, things are always good when we get together.

I spent most of the time visiting with my uncles, aunts and cousins. We talked about all the members of the family we have lost. Lots of tears and belly laughs could be heard throughout my uncles house.I was nice.

“What about honey?”

We came back to "Honey" 4 times in this exchange. I was going nuts.

Here is the deal, I am working at a church retreat in a few weeks and I was approached by the person in charge of food for the weekend regarding food choices. Apparently there are going to be some other people with diabetes attending the weekend and they thought they would get my suggestions. (READ MORE)
