"Sana Sana Colita De Rana" which is Spanish for "Heal, Heal. Butt of a Frog!" LOL Yeah, I swear.


It is usually said to little kids when they get hurt. You may call it a "boo boo" or "let mommy kiss the boo boo and make it better." The whole "frog butt" part is really used as a distraction. It's hard to worry about a stubbed toe when grandma just said something about a frog's bottom! (READ MORE)

Do you consider yourself to be selfish? That's the topic I've been pondering over today and for many years since becoming diabetic. Sometimes I can't help but feel like because of diabetes I am forced to think of myself, or my diabetic needs, before the needs of others. Maybe selfishness is a characteristic that is inherited in people who develop life threatening illnesses or diseases. Perhaps because we live with the constant reminder of the thin line between life and death, we are more in tune to our needs.

Is it true that selfishness and diabetes go hand in hand?

What do you think? Have you, like me, thought about this before? Do you think of yourself as a selfish person?

I did an insulin pump infusion set site change this morning, by the ubiquitous lamp light on the dresser. My fiance (seven weeks until the wedding!) and I were talking about thresholds for pain and how I don't have much tolerance for emotional pain but my threshold for physical pain is high.

"I know. You can stick yourself with needles all day long but you freak out if you see a spider." He grinned at me.

"I know that needles aren't going to try and crawl on my head at night, that's for sure." (READ MORE)
