Back in October I had an appointment to see my endocrinologist. October was not a good month for me.

During that month I was packing up my house, and walking away from the only place my children knew as “home,” and was in a very deep funk.

I knew I was not eating right. No exercising. And my blood sugars had been crazy high because of ignoring all the stuff that helps.

I didn’t go. I totally ditched getting my a1c test drawn.

So, I ditched the appointment and the test. And I haven’t gone back.

Since I've made the leap to find a new doctor, I figured it's about time that I make a list of what I need/want in my new doctor. I've never seriously thought about it, even though I've been through many doctors. But since I'm a thinking adult, I might as well figure it out.

When I was diagnosed, I don't think I got a choice on who I saw for my diabetes care. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have liked anyone, even if I did get to choose. I was a pretty ticked off little 4 year old. I saw that first doctor, Dr. Sherman (who was amazing, despite my dislike of doctors), up until I was about 10. When she moved away, I stayed within the same system that I was in (it was the best pediatric diabetes care in the state). I had a choice of about five doctors.

In two weeks I have my next endo appointment scheduled and I am already nervous.

I am eating like it is going out of style and my increase of mass is proof positive! At work I am constantly munching on anything I can get my hands on and continue with it when I get home! I feel like I will never get back on track with Weight Watchers. I feel so far gone.

And because of all the poor food choices my blood sugars have paid the price. I keep running high all day to only crash in the middle of the night. I feel out of wack and completely out of control.

So now I have to face the music with my endocrinologist and frankly I don’t want to.

I want to ditch. (READ MORE)

I've got that nervy, kinda sick feeling.  A type of cold feet, but all in my mind.  Maybe it's butterflies I feel, but it's not really in my tummy.  I'm dreading the stop on the scale on the way back to the tiny little interview (maybe I should call it interrogation, that seems more accurate) room.

It's Endo-Nerves.  Tomorrow is my endocrinologist visit.  It's only been a couple months, but with my impending insurance (maybe I should call it un-surance) upheaval, I'm going in a few weeks early.

This may be the last time I go to this particular doctor (maybe I should call her Physcian's Assistant, that seems much more accurate).  Since I won't be commuting up to work following my lay-off, it's really silly to consider driving over an hour each way to see this highly rated and very popular specialist (and his minions, AKA PAs).

I had an endo appointment this week that was pretty uneventful.

We went over my blood work and everything looked good except for my a1c of course. I pretty much accepted that it would not be great since my blood sugars have been high and it was only a month ago that rang in with an a1c of 8.3.

Yesterday I posted about the terrible heat we are having here in Southern California and how my glucose meter would not work until it cooled down.

I also hinted about a new pump routine that my new Endocrinologist gave me when I am playing Racquetball and I wanted to tell you about it.

He asked me what I did for exercise to which I told him about Disc Golf and Racquetball. I gave him the same answer I have given here, "I cannot strap myself to a machine for an hour a day. I love doing other stuff instead."
