You can do this.

That's a campaign, started by Kim over at Texting My Pancreas, aimed at telling us that self-care is neither so painful nor so difficult to understand that we cannot do it. It's also, for many -- particularly those in the Type 1 community -- a rallying call for ending the traditional dietary restrictions for people with diabetes. The problem is, when it seeps through to Type 2s like me.

 

I can haz cupcakes? I haz BIG Crumbs cupcake.

I can haz pizza? I haz many slices.

I can haz chocolate? I haz large chocolate bar.

Earlier this week, it was announced that the focus of national anger for most of this century had met his Maker, courtesy of the United States military. The TV news showed people reacting by dancing in the streets.

A recent DirecTV ad sent a number of d-tweeters to our keyboards, talking about the newest TV "superhero". The illuminated blue ring that would have been the dial on a rotary phone looks similar to the World Diabetes Day logo, suggesting that the cops in trouble might be calling for the help of  "Diabetes Man". All things considered, the light-up blue ring on the telephone dial would have been cool had it connected to a diabetes crisis center ("I'm out of insulin and I can't get to my doc until a week from Friday!" "I'm reading 400 and I've injected almost a whole vial of insulin, but it still isn't going down!" "Diabetes sucks! (READ MORE)
