Since becoming a "Weight Watcher," I have noticed the amount of stress in my life has increased. Having diabetes means I carry around a bunch of stuff with me where ever I go. I have my Glucose testing machine, strips, lancets, glucose tabs, and not to mention my carb counting book.

And now I have to add my Dining Out Guide which gives me the point values to restaurant food, my sliding scale for figuring point values, my tracker which I log my points in, and the Food Guide that has point values for all kinds of foods. So you see, I have more stuff to remember these days then I did before. (READ MORE)

I hate exercising. I should rephrase that. I hate typical exercise. You know what I mean. Stuff like lifting weights, stair steppers, treadmills, those scary machines, aerobics, jazzercise, and pretty much all the stuff you see at the typical "gym."

And that is the other part of it. Every gym in my neck of the woods feels like you can not enter until you are fit and trim. So yours truly who has a long way to go would feel very out of place until I was a total lean mean D machine.

Of course being a "born again diabetic" I know that exercise needs and should be a part of my daily routine. So how do I make the non-existent gym rat in my come out?

Simple, I find something that I actually like to do and run with that! (READ MORE)

The results from my first week on the Core Plan at Weight Watchers proved positive. I lost a little. I thought I would lose more. I expected I would. But I still lost so that is good.


I posted about the differences between the Flex and Core plan on my personal blog today.


One of the big differences about the Flex plan (one with the Points) and the Core plan is that you eat until you are satisfied. This, my dear readers, may be the reason for not losing at least a flipping pound this week.


Satisfied? How do I figure that out? I always ate until I was full or finished my plate and that was it. That is the way I was raised. “Are you full?” That was always the question when I would announce being “done” with dinner.


But being satisfied is a totally different thing. (READ MORE)

After reading through and really thinking about all of the comments on my "Carbs vs Points" post I have decided that starting next week, I am going to begin the Weight Watchers Core Plan.


For those who are not familiar with the Core Plan, it's different than the Points plan or Flex plan as they call it. The Core plan has a list of foods that you can eat. You are only to eat from those foods and only eat until satisfied. I am going to do it on a 2 week basis and see how it goes.


So far I have lost 40 pounds using the Flex Plan which is the one with the Points so I have had some success. The problem is my BG and my need for change. I will do some major shopping this weekend to prepare myself for next week but I am actually looking forward to it. (READ MORE)

Each Saturday morning I head over to our local Weight Watchers office to weigh in and attend the meetings. The week was not good for yours truly. I gained and of course was not happy but what made it worse was my attitude all week and frankly for the last several weeks.


I am tired of counting. I feel like the Count on Sesame Street. "9! AH AH AH. 9 Points! AH AH AH! And 27 CARBS! AH AH AH!" (READ MORE)

This morning was the first in the roughly two weeks that we've been in our new house that I actually had time to sit down at the kitchen table to eat a bowl of oatmeal instead of quickly slapping some cream cheese on a bagel and scarfing it down in the car during my one-hour commute. Let me tell you, bolusing while driving is not easy.
