"We can’t have him beeping all day in class," I said.

 

It’s like I’m Anakin Skywalker sending R2D2 to his first day of android school.

 

"Yeah," Maeve mumbled, her mouth full of Cheerios.

 

"It would be distracting to everyone in the class."

 

I fumbled with Charlie’s pump settings, trying to figure out how to turn off the beeping from the low reservoir. I never could figure it out, though I did get it to vibrate momentarily.

 

"Ooh," Charlie said.

 

"Do that again."

 

Did I mention there’s a kid with type 1 who just entered kindergarten at the school?

This morning it was raining in Phoenix, Ariz. Seriously. It's been raining for days. Our company holiday party was yesterday afternoon and we had the remainder of the afternoon off. Which was nice, but didn't allow me to prepare for a meeting I had at 9 a.m. this morning.
 

I had planned to leave early this morning in order to make sure I had things in order for the meeting (that I was essentially running), but of course I was running nearly 20 minutes later than I had wanted to and expected to get to work almost on time instead of 30 minutes early. I had been rushing out so fast this morning that I didn't eat breakfast and didn't check my reservoir.
