I am a gamer. I love playing video games either on my PC or on our Nintendo Wii.
2 weeks ago I was able to get my hands on the last Wii Fit being sold at our local retailer. In case you are not familiar with what Wii Fit you should check out this video clip.
Wii Fit is a fitness game from Nintendo that works using the Wii controllers and the Wii Fit Balance Board. The Balance Board is a highly sensitive peripheral that can measure a user’s weight and center of gravity. The software that comes with it can calculate your BMI when told the user’s height.

Family. Health. Necessities.
We were all thankful for so much as we shared our turkey feast this year. We are spending the Thanksgiving weekend in Albuquerque New Mexico this year with my sisters and mother. Having to make a 13 hour drive made me thankful for
low carb snacks and caffeine too.
The thing that stands out as I contemplate the meal last night was the laughter I heard and participated in. I laughed a lot. We brought up old memories of family events and funny stories. Joked about each others habits and quirks, and just laughed at my kids and my nieces being silly. It was a lot of fun and so comforting.
One of the few qualities I have is the ability to make people laugh. I love to poke fun at myself, the world, and pretty much everything! I am also good about not being mean but just funny. All and all it was a very good time.

I love this time of year. As soon as we can "spring ahead" and gain that hour of sunlight in the afternoon, I get excited. Before this last Sunday it was dark soon after I got home from work which meant no Disc Golf during the week.
A while back I wrote a post about how I am
not a typical gym guy. I like to exercise in non-traditional ways such as racquetball or
disc golf instead of being strapped to a machine at a health club. Well now that the days are longer I can meet my buddies at the park after work for a round of disc golf. If you can throw a Frisbee then you can play this game. It is not nearly as frustrating to me as golf is. I am terrible at traditional golf.

I needed a
set change last night. I am not one of the
good diabetics that always do their set changes the same time of day. When I run out, I change. Anyhow, last night was one of those times.
My kids wanted to play some Nintendo Wii before they had to take their evening showers so I decided that I would change my set first and then we could play. I switched from my left leg to my right leg. Typically I start at the top of my thigh on the far right and then move my way across my thigh until I have to move down and start over. Sort of an
infusion set typewriter.

Just the other day I was speaking with a group of co-workers about different life changing events in the life of someone with diabetes. As we sat there and talked about it I began to reflect on my own. I thought about the different times in my life such as diagnosis time, school, relationships, complications, and work. All things that every person living with diabetes can relate to, or will eventually deal with.
Where were you when you were diagnosed? What were you doing that day or at that particular time in your life? Were you at work? Were you at school? Did you go into a coma or diabetic ketoacidosis? Was your vision so blurry, that like me, you realized you couldn't see the picture on the t.v.?
