I've really been struggling with my numbers lately. The Symlin has complicated things by causing prolonged highs after meals. My Lantus doesn't seem adequate, although last week it was too efficient. There is just no medium ground with the D lately.
I've finally gotten a few meals on Symlin at 30 mcg without the severe nausea that I was experiencing earlier. I'm not quite ready to raise it to 45 mcg though. I'm hoping for Tuesday if tomorrow shows continued improvement. I know that I can get the highs under control once I have the Symlin straightened out.
The waiting is killing me though. Literally. I hate running high. I hate the way I feel when I'm high like this. The fuzz that won't budge. The thirst that can't be quenched. The nausea that comes up suddenly.

I'm currently recovering from a fairly unexpected blood sugar of 49. It's the lowest I've been all week despite battling a multitude of lows. It really doesn't feel good. Especially after I've just finished an intense Jillian Michaels' workout (30 Day Shred) and just had to guzzle Coke and snacks.
Even before starting the Symlin on Tuesday evening, I was having lows at two odd times of the day. Morning and early evening after work. I'd wake up lower than I'd like, spike through the morning and afternoon and drop low almost immediately after leaving work. Symlin has only complicated this issue.
Today was the worst low of them all. After watching the Dexcom sit above 200 all day long, I had a salad with waffle fries for dinner. I bolused for the 204 prior to the meal on top of the fries and chicken. Then I decided to drink a Coke. 10 units of Humalog. An accurate bolus.

Oh, Jane, how I hate you. Exercise videos were your idea, right?Â
Selling people exercise to perform in their own homes? Lots of people with hard bodies on-screen sweating half as much as the people performing the video in the living room? People exercising in front of the television that usually serves as a friend? People's cats (well, my cat) chasing their draping hair during ab crunches or swatting at sneakers during butt kicks?
All of it, torture. At least Richard Simmons had the decency to include real-life people exercising. Not you, Jane. You inspired people like Jillian Michaels. And she is, no question, SATAN.  I think she's trying to kill me. For reals. Or at least get me to wear leg warmers. And it's your fault, Jane. I believe a good workout comes with sweat. Which is why I don’t exercise during my lunch break and also why I prefer to exercise first thing in the morning.
I prefer to do my exercise walking outside. Using a treadmill is a last resort for me. I’m one of those weird people who’s more likely to exercise if it means I *don’t* have to go to the gym.
I’ve written a number of times lately about being committed to figuring out how to fit exercise into my schedule. The farthest I’ve gotten is the part where I say I’m going to think about it. But I’m getting fluffy and clothes that used to fit beautifully aren’t so much any more. Plus, I feel good when I exercise.

Exercise! Do something! I can’t tell you how life-changing exercise and fitness is for me…but I’ll try!
So this morning I woke up, had some coffee and some breakfast, and then worked for 3 hours or so until I felt it was time to get in some physical activity. Since I’m in Florida at the moment I really am enjoying taking advantage of working out in the sun. It feels so good and I love that the sun aids in improving my circulation in my feet and my entire body. Definitely something that you guys out there can relate with.

Man, are my legs killing me. I can barely walk down the stairs while carrying an almost 15 pound baby. What in the world could have made me so sore? I haven't been to the gym or done any exercise videos. But I have not been this sore since I can't remember when.
Then it hits me. We bought a Wii over the weekend. Determined to use the purchase for good, I've been making sure to move as much as possible while playing games. The "purpose" was to get us off the couch and get some "exercise". I just never thought it would work this well.
So far, my favorite game is bowling. I'm not a good bowler in real life, and I'm not a great virtual bowler either. But it's still fun (and somehow I still manage to throw gutter bowls?). My own mother who has never played a video game in her life totally kicks my tail in Wii bowling, too. (READ MORE)

Kerri, our buddy ol' pal here at Blogabetes, sent us bloggers some writing prompts the other day. One prompt that hit home with me was writing about what people can do during these cold months to stay active and keep the pounds off. It is a natural process for us as humans to throw on a few extra lbs as the cold weather starts to approach. With that in mind, I for one, really enjoy working out in MY VERY OWN LIVING ROOM. Even as dedicated as some of us are to working out, it is still a pain to get out into the cold. Nobody likes running to their car, scraping the ice off, and waiting for it warm up just to drive to the gym!! It is hard enough for people to be motivated on the warm days. That's where your living room and your creativity come into play.
