I'm writing two posts today because I am so incredibly frustrated I really need an outlet. I am about to start throwing things through the wall (which I really don't think my neighbors would appreciate). Particularly, I'm going to throw my stupid pump through the wall (I know they really won't appreciate that!). I have been having a lot of trouble with it since day one. The worst part is that I am having so much trouble with the company and getting help. (READ MORE)

There are some days when a person ought to just stay in bed.Â
Under the covers.
Cuddled with the cat.
Warm and safe and happy and comfortable.
There are some days when staying in bed is the best possible option. Of course, those days are often realized in hindsight. When the proverbial ball is already rolling in the absolute wrong direction.
Today has been, without a doubt, one of those days.
I got up this morning feeling alright. Fairly well-rested, actually, and not fighting - as I'm wont to do - the inevitable reality that another day has dawned and it can't be spent in the paradise of slumber.

Right now, I'm staring at my logbook trying to decide what changes I need to make and what else I want to try with all this. This past week has been a bit rocky so my averages are all over the place. Mostly, they're high. At least higher than I want them to be. So while I'm staring at my book, I'm trying to piece together this last week and figure out what is going on with these numbers.

In the normal course of things, having a fasting of, say, 82 would be cause for celebration. In fact, almost anything under 100 should be considered an accomplishment.
So what have I been doing lately upon seeing those numbers at 5:30 a.m.? "Oh for the love of Pete and all that is sugary! What does it take to get a fasting over 100."
I know what you're thinking: Did I read that right? Over 100?
Yes, you read right. Most days I prefer to have a fasting of at least 125 and would really rather have it a touch higher than that for insurance. Because the last thing I want to do at 5:30 a.m. before going on a vigorous walk is be forced to eat something so I don't go low. The last couple weeks it's been a nice excuse to get back in bed, but I'm really working on motivating myself to get out of bed more often.

Food is frustrating to me. Ever since I can remember, food has been a completely different aspect in my life than what my family, peers, and humanity deals with. Yes, food is a source of energy and existence. Yes, it's amazing. Yes, it packs on the pounds. But it's also a total love-hate relationship with me. For one reason: diabetes.
When I was first diagnosed, my life was thrown into "sugar-free" mode. My sugar intake was limited. I never tasted a real coke unless I was low. I didn't get to eat normal candy or normal desserts. Everything was tainted by fake sugar, a chemical taste that couldn't replace my childhood need for some old-fashioned sugar.
