I have maggots in my shoes. Invisible maggots in my shoes and they never EVER go away.
Some days they are more active then others and the weirdest thing is that they hang out even when I don't have shoes on! Occasionally I think there is one with a lighter who like to burn me at different times throughout the day and night. Even if I am sleeping they will mess with me.
So what do I do? I have tried medicine to make them sleep but that seems to make me want to sleep all the time too. I have stomped so hard, hoping I would crush every one of them to no avail. And at the expense of looking like a psycho as I do it. Nothing seems to work.
My doctor says that I should keep my glucose levels normal which I only think can happen when a cure is found. Why do doctors say that? Anyhow, I am very good about keeping my blood down to a hint of sweetness and I will admit, the maggot with the lighter does not come around as often. (READ MORE)

Man, are my legs killing me. I can barely walk down the stairs while carrying an almost 15 pound baby. What in the world could have made me so sore? I haven't been to the gym or done any exercise videos. But I have not been this sore since I can't remember when.
Then it hits me. We bought a Wii over the weekend. Determined to use the purchase for good, I've been making sure to move as much as possible while playing games. The "purpose" was to get us off the couch and get some "exercise". I just never thought it would work this well.
So far, my favorite game is bowling. I'm not a good bowler in real life, and I'm not a great virtual bowler either. But it's still fun (and somehow I still manage to throw gutter bowls?). My own mother who has never played a video game in her life totally kicks my tail in Wii bowling, too. (READ MORE)

I am a gamer. I love playing video games either on my PC or on our Nintendo Wii.

2 weeks ago I was able to get my hands on the last Wii Fit being sold at our local retailer. In case you are not familiar with what Wii Fit you should check out this video clip.

Wii Fit is a fitness game from Nintendo that works using the Wii controllers and the Wii Fit Balance Board. The Balance Board is a highly sensitive peripheral that can measure a user’s weight and center of gravity. The software that comes with it can calculate your BMI when told the user’s height.

Last week was a tough one for me. I was starting to feel really depressed. I know it comes with the D-territory but I cannot stand to feel that way for long. All the comments I received were huge and helped a lot. Luckily, I had a really fantastic weekend that lifted my spirits too and moved me out of the depressed zone I was in.
But something that I do not think has ever happened to me, happened last night. I had a diabetes nightmare and it really scared me. (READ MORE)

I have a confession to make. Last week, I went on a post-partum shoe shopping binge. I don't know what came over me. One minute I was walking through the door at Marty's and 20 exhilarating minutes later, I was walking back out with four boxes in tow.
I am thoroughly in love with my purchases. I bought cute brown pumps to wear with the brown pants my aunt handed-down to me after she lost 30 pounds; a pair of comfy brown Ugg-like clogs that match my brown winter coat; black ballet-flats that are sure to get Stacy London's seal of approval; and a stylish pair of black tweed pumps to wear to church. Last week I posted about my Insurance company giving me a scare about approving my insulin pump supplies.
Well, using a Minimed insulin pump in Southern California has its advantages since their products are shipped out of Northridge which is about 30 minutes from my house. Almost in my backyard! So my order which was sent via UPS 3-day select arrived at the Simmons house the very next day!
This made my stress level drop tremendously which we all know is good for the diabetes.
So that covers the first part of this post title. Now to the blogging.
I mentioned this insurance situation on my personal blog, where I often rant about my ups and downs with diabetes, and the coolest thing happened. (READ MORE)

Drum roll please.
And the 2007 award for the most flippant comment related to diabetes management goes to ,
Mr. Travis Hudson, a reviewer of tech devices over at dvice.com, for his review of a shoe insole developed by New Zealand's Zephyr Technology called the ShoePod Diabetic, that "has the ability to detect diabetic peripheral neuropathy."
"Glucose, schmucose," the review begins.
"This allows yourself, or your doc to keep an active eye on your condition and provide plenty of preventative measures to keep those feet nice, healthy and still attached," writes Hudson. (READ MORE)
