Good news. Bad news. Ain't that the way it always goes?
Good news. On Monday, I received my Mini-Link CGM from Minimed. Thanks to a blessing from people who don't even really know me. Cool, right?
It's been pretty fantastic to be able to see my bloodsugars in real time. I've had no problems with calibration and I've been consistently within 5-15 mg/dl points of the CGM for each meter reading. The swings I've been having are easier to catch before they happen and I haven't had even one low or extreme high since I hooked up on Monday. Even with three boxing classes this week - tough 900 calorie burning - hour plus work outs. And I've stayed in range throughout every one of them, since I've known my bloodsugar and the direction it's headed in well in advance.
I honestly couldn't be more thankful.

Which would you like to hear first? I guess I'll start with the bad news and get my whining out of the way first. The scale is up this week. Granted it's only half a pound, but the frustrating part is I have been working so hard at this. I've been following Weight Watchers faithfully since Thanksgiving and I've only lost about 2 and a half pounds. What's worse is I'm starting to begrudge people at the meeting who lose more than that each week. Selfish, isn't it?
In reviewing my diet, exercise and lifestyle, I'm even more annoyed because I'm eating less food (and healthier food, at that), exercising more, drinking water and even getting more sleep than I had been. But I'm still not losing. What do I need to do? I'm open to all suggestions, except "be patient." I don't do well with patience. (READ MORE)

First, let me tell you that I used my very last sensor in February, and didn't even get a full life out of it. I decided to try to different spot on my belly and it wound up being a crap spot because the readings would come in sketchy and after about twoish days I realized most of the adhesive had come off. So I begrudgingly yanked it.
But I was in the midst of fighting my insurance company for coverage of my sensors and I was certain that the situation would be resolved soon and that it wouldn't be long until I had replacement sensors. And then one day, like magic, I got word that the sensors were covered. It was like an enormous weight was gone.
I quickly took care of the other weight on my shoulders: paying my deductible from the last batch of pump supplies I received. Medtronic said I only needed to pay it in full before I ordered supplies again so I was taking my time.
