I'm (cough) just wondering a few things about your products (sniffle). You see, before I had diabetes, I had many, many wonderful choices of cough drop flavors to help me get through a cold or even to ease the pain of a scratchy throat (blow nose). Now, though, I'm limited to a very few, select flavors in your sugar-free line.
(sneeze) And while we're on the topic of your sugar-free line, can you kindly explain why there are fewer cough drops per bag than the sugar-filled variety? Why (sniffle) do I have to pay the same amount for fewer pieces of relief? (cough) Furthermore, can you tell me why the "value pack" of your regular variety has 80 drops and the "value pack" of the sugar-free drops has only 70 and I pay the same amount (coughcough)?

Getting dressed Monday morning I thought to myself that today was the day when my office-mates would finally ask me about diabetes. Over the weekend workers moved our entire 120ish-person workforce from one not-yet-renovated building into temporary quarters in the newly renovated building.
As I unpacked my box, I gingerly tacked my "cure diabetes" pin from Beth onto my cube wall near my computer screen, my bag of emergency Jelly Belly's went onto the open shelf above my computer along with popcorn, granola bars, juice boxes and sugar-free cough drops. Something is bound to tip them off, I thought.

Driving over the highway on a route I usually don't take I was thinking about the letter I had just drafted to the bank that holds our mortgage in Missouri. I was pleading with the bank president because we see no hope for selling that house and even if we do we won't recoup the money we've put into it in the last 15 months.
I had butterflies. I felt strange. I felt light and heavy. It was a weird feeling considering how confident I felt as I was writing the letter. That's when it dawned on me that I actually felt low. It wasn't about the letter after all.
I try not to test while I'm driving -- especially on the highway -- but as soon as I realized what was happening I knew I needed to test right that second.

When I met with our new CPA for the first time, I brought him everything I could think he would need. In 2008 my family and I lived in two states and between me and my husband we had five jobs.
As we sat down to talk taxes, he asked the obvious, normal questions. And then the biggie: he wanted to know if I kept receipts or records from doctor's office co-pays or any other medical treatment. No, of course not, because I had no need to. Well, in Arizona, he said, you can write off your medical expenses, right down to your office co-pays.
Well, hot damn, I thought! I have tons of medical expenses!
"Co-pays, really?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Prescriptions?"
"Yes."
